bug #88, which was fixed in Nucleus v3.22, solved a bunch of "Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference" problems.
It appears that more similar errors pop up for the mysql_xxxx functions on some PHP installations. (I'm not seeing the problem myself on Win32)
